Moths fly thoughout the year, even in quite low temperatures. This plant normally doesn’t flower until a month later, but in 2012 was blooming on 9/01/12. It is Daphne laureola var.philippi. When it does open its tiny flowers it is a magnet for winter and early spring flying moths like this Hebrew Character. None of the other ten or so Daphnes that we grow seem to attract any moths at all.
